How the Threatwhere Operator app collects and uses location data to support operator safety, and your choices.
This Location Monitoring Policy explains how the Threatwhere Operator mobile application (the 'Operator App'), provided by Threatwhere LLC ('Company', 'we', 'us', or 'our'), collects and uses location data, and the choices available to you. It supplements our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy; where this Policy and the Privacy Policy differ on location data, this Policy governs for the Operator App.
By accepting this Policy when you sign in to or register for the Operator App, you confirm that you understand and agree to the location monitoring described below.
This Policy applies to operators and other personnel who are issued a licence by their organisation to use the Operator App ('you' or 'Operators'). Operators are typically deployed or travelling personnel whose organisation uses Threatwhere to support their safety and duty-of-care obligations.
Your organisation determines whether, and on what terms, you are enrolled in location monitoring. In most cases your organisation acts as the controller of your location data and we act as its processor. Questions about why you are being monitored, or requests to stop, should be directed to your organisation in the first instance.
When enabled, the Operator App may collect:
We collect this data only while you are signed in to the Operator App and your organisation has location monitoring enabled for you.
Location data is collected to support operator safety and your organisation's duty of care, specifically to:
We do not use Operator App location data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Depending on your organisation's configuration and your device permissions, location may be collected:
Background location is processed by your device's operating system and requires the "Always" location permission. If you do not grant this permission, background safety features will not work.
Your location data is made available to authorised personnel within your organisation (such as your security, operations, or duty-of-care team) for the purposes described above. We process the data on your organisation's behalf and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We disclose the categories of third parties involved in operating the Service in that Privacy Policy.
We retain location data for as long as necessary to provide the Operator App and to meet your organisation's safety, record-keeping, and legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Your organisation may set its own retention period.
Participation in location monitoring is a condition of using the Operator App's safety features. You can:
Important: if you disable location permissions or withdraw consent, safety features that depend on location — including SOS location reporting, background tracking, and geofence alerts — will not function, which may reduce the protection the Operator App is intended to provide. Your organisation may also restrict your access to the Operator App if location monitoring is required for your role.
The Operator App's location and safety features are supplementary tools. They are not a substitute for local emergency services, and they do not guarantee that location data will be transmitted, received, or acted upon, or that any particular response will follow. Location collection and transmission depend on device, connectivity, power, and coverage conditions that may be limited or unavailable. See the "Safety Features and SOS" and "Disclaimer" sections of our Terms of Use.
We may update this Policy from time to time. The date at the top indicates when it was last updated. Where changes are material, we will ask you to review and accept the updated Policy.
